Complete your lavish buffet with a skirted
buffet table, crystal ice sculptures

BANQUET TABLE:  Instructions and diagrams by Jean Kelly
  Cut strip of colored fabric 3/4 inches wide by length of front edge of table plus 1/2 inch.  Fold and glue both edges in on each other 1/4 inch, until finished strip is 1/4 inch wide (Diagram 2).  Glue one end of this strip to back top edge of table, bringing it in about 1/8 inch.  Secure with pins and let dry thoroughly.  When dry, continue gluing strip around top edge of table, pressing pleats down to the right as you go.  Try to glue this down as tightly as possible.  Glue end to back of table and secure with pins.  Top tier table should be made 2-1/2 inches to 3 inches smaller than bottom table and 1-1/2 inches high.  Construct in same manner as larger table.  When finished, glue smaller table to top of larger one, being sure to center it and gluing flush with back.  If table is large, it may need a brace.  Cut piece of foamcore or wood to fit between top and bottom of table on inside.  Glue in place.  (Diagram 3).
  Fill tables with food and don't forget to invite me to the banquet!
  Note:  For use as the central attraction in a large room, the banquet table may be made completely circular rather than a half-circle.
