HELPFUL HINTS AND OBSERVATIONS

1) Polymer Compound Resin can have a slight amber tint, but this does not matter at all if you if you are adding dyes or color to it. And what does that matter either, when it comes to ponds, bathtubs, etc.

2) Remember to mix accurate, equal amounts of resin and catalyst and to stir thoroughly.  This will assure a tack-free surface.  NOTE:  I pour each into a paper cup, then wait for the flow-back into the bottles. Then I line up the two bottles to see if the amounts in each are the same.

3) Bubbles?  Many projects are more realistic with bubbles, such as milk, champagne, etc.  But if you do not want bubbles, exhale over the cup of resin mixture and the bubbles will dissipate.  OR - wait a few minutes until the resin mixture begins to heat up as it cures in the cup - one more stir and you will have no bubbles and can pour.

4) When filling a vessel with a small opening, it is best to do so drop-by-drop from the tip of a toothpick, or use a disposable eye dropper.

5) NEVER use more catalyst than resin - you will end up with a tacky project.

6) Working with resin on a damp or humid day can cause it to cure cloudy.

7) Glass stains used to color resins may or may not work.  Many times the color you mixed changes during curing.  It is best to use the compatible resin dyes and colors.

8) Polymer Compound Resin cannot be used in molds - it will just stick there.

9) Remember to discard all used paper cups, stirring sticks etc. properly.

E-Z WATER, POLYSEAMSEAL, CLEAR CAULKING, WONDER WATER

These products are wonderful for certain projects, such as ponds, bird baths, bathtubs, etc. Not at all useful for beverages, jellos, sauces, soups, etc. For these, the polymer compounds such as Envirotex-Lite and Ultra-Glo are best.
