Toothpicks
Fimo matte lacquer
Miniature platter
Garnishes of your Choice
1. Cover your work surface with a plastic bag. Pour a small pile of uncooked Cream of Wheat on the covered work surface; squeeze a mound of tacky glue next to this. Scoop up a small amount of glue with a toothpick, then dip it into the Cream of Wheat. Roll the mixture between your fingertips, forming a ball. When the ball is fairly firm, flatten it slightly to resemble a crab cake. Make as many as needed and let dry for several hours.
2. With a craft knife, shave the end of ochre artists' chalk into powder. Apply the powder to the cakes with your finger. Use enough powder to create a fried look. Arrange and glue the crab cakes to the platter. Paint with Fimo matte lacquer. Garnish as desired.
A note about resin
Polymer compound resin (such as Envirotex Lite) is sold in a kit with two bottles: the resin and the catalyst. Pour equal parts in a paper cup, then stir mixture thoroughly.
