SWEETHEART CAKE
November 1986
Knead a bit of white Fimo into rose pink Fimo to obtain paler shade. Roll on flat surface to thickness of about 1/8 inch. Cut out bottom layer of cake with 3/4 inch heart cutter and top layer with 1/2 inch heart cutter. Carefully glue top heart layer to bottom heart layer and bake in oven at 200 to 250 degrees for 10 minutes. Remove and let cool.
For decorative icing knead a bit of white polyform modelling compound until very soft. Roll very thin snake about 5 inches long. With tip of toothpick, draw thin line of 527 craft cement around bottom edge of cake. Carefully wrap polyform snake around cake on glue line. Cut excess off with X-Acto knife. Texture icing with tip of toothpick or X-Acto knife. Repeat this process on bottom edge of upper heart layer. For flowerettes, glue tiny balls of polyform evenly around upper edge of bottom layer and texture as above. With 3/16 inch heart cutter, cut a tiny heart for top of cake. Bake entire cake in oven at 200 to 250 degrees for 10 minutes. Remove and let cool. Gloss as desired and glue cake to cake plate.
