STRAWBERRY PUNCH
November 1986
Please Note:  With plastic miniatures such as Chrysnbon, polmer compounds are recommended.  If casting resin is used, the inside surface of the bowl, glass, etc. must be protected.  This can be done by first coating with acrylic gloss, such as Chrysnbon Gloss on Polly-S Clear.  Let dry overnight.
Strawberries:  For stems, wrap a piece of hobby wire with with green florist tape.  Cut into tiny stems.  For strawberries, roll fleck of red Fimo into ball with fingertips.  Then roll around on perch scraper for texture, tapering on one end as you roll.  For tops of strawberries roll out leaf green Fimo on flat surface until very thin. Cut out tops with 3/16 inch Kemper flower pattern cutter, place on strawberry and insert green stem.  Make five or six strawberries.  Bake in oven at 150 to 200 degrees for 10 minutes.  Let cool.
Punch: Pour resin into paper cup.  Add a touch of white opague color.  Stir.  Add very slightest touch of red opague dye.  Stir.  Resin mixture should have a translucent pink color.  Add needed amount of catalyst (usual formula is 10 drops catalyst to 1 ounce resin. If using polymer compound, formula is one part catalyst to one part resin).  Stir thoroughly.  Carefully pour catalyzed mixture into punch bowl and cups.  Add clear baking crystals for "ice."  When resin begins to gel, arrange strawberries on top of punch.  (Note: resin must be watched carefully and tested periodically with toothpick to assure having correct consistency to "float" strawberries.)  Let harden undisturbed for at least two hours.
